Professional Makeup Artistry Certification Course

Our comprehensive makeup artistry syllabus is laid out over the course of 12 weeks, offering students the opportunity to learn with more flexibility during the week and prepare for fast-paced, hands on clinical practice on the weekend.

Self-paced, remote theory and fundamentals during the week, and in-person PRO demonstrations, hands-on makeup practice, and professional photoshoots on weekends (Sundays only). This offers busy full time students, professionals, parents, and all-around hustlers the flexibility required to pursue the career of their dreams, despite their packed calendars. It’s easier than ever to become a professional certified makeup artist in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or any of the surrounding areas in New Mexico. We prepare our students for a wide range of career options in makeup artistry from bridal, freelance/brand & commercial artistry to becoming a working professional makeup artist in the booming film & television industry in New Mexico.

The course structure includes:

  • 8 weeks of core classes in all aspects of basic beauty, industry ethics, editorial, bridal, special effects, and film & tv requirements

  • 4 weeks of hands-on job training and clinical practice with a Southwest Makeup Institute certified partner (see a list of our partners here). **Requires that the student is available some Saturdays.

Along with this flexible schedule, students are offered immediate on-the-job-training opportunities beginning the first week of classes, with mandatory shadowing hours to be completed each week under one of our top PRO makeup artist trainers.

This professional makeup artist certification course was created with the concept in mind that in order to fully master something, we need to “read it, watch it, see it, do it”. Southwest Makeup Institute’s new and improved format offers just that:
