Community Partners
Southwest Makeup Institute’s Community Partners include the best Makeup Artists, charitable organizations, and small businesses in Albuquerque and Santa FE; all committed to the progressive education and development of our students.
In collaboration with the IASTE Local 480 Film Union, a 12 week professional makeup artist certification with SWMUI offers students 15 days toward union membership! We are the first makeup artist training institution of our kind to be able to offer this incredible opportunity.
SWMUI students provide support through our shadowing program where they assist and shadow our community partners throughout their certification processes. These mandatory, on-the-job training hours set students up for success by exposing them to the fast-paced, competitive world of professional makeup artistry while still in our program.

Interested in joining? You must meet the following qualifications prior to acceptance into the Industry Partner Program:
5+ years industry experience
currently working as a makeup artist in the Southwest Region
require assistance on jobs
have a desire to mentor
have at least 2 shadowing opportunities (3 or more hours) per month
